OK you are going to love this one...
This month my family and I are responsible for doing Children's Church. We have kids who are 4 years old come in during worship and we have a Bible story and lesson and put on a puppet show.
Another activity is singing worship/Sunday School songs. I start with a DVD of kids singing and then we all sit down and I take requests from the kids of what they want to sing. This is not easy for me because there are a lot of songs at this church that I do not know, so the child has to sing it for me first, so I can learn it. Then everyone joins in.
Sooo
Today, I was asking what the kids wanted to sing. I had requests like: This Little Light of Mine and Jesus Loves Me. Then one child asked if we could sing Tick Tock. I told the child, "I do not know that song, can you sing it for me?" The child starts singing very softly and I am struggling to hear. Eventually, I pick on the words: "brush my teeth with a bottle of jack.." Then it hits me that this child is singing a Kesha song. I told the child that we probably won't sing that one in church.
SOO Funny! Don't worry, I am not being judgmental. I can tell you right now ALL THREE of my kids know the song. Robbie's eyes bugged out when he figured out what song the child had requested. That is actually the funny part. I think everyone in my family kind of figured it out at the same time and were all horrified / embarrassed that we all knew exactly what song it was. I am SURE there will come a day when they ask William, "What would you like to sing?" and he will say: "How about Poker Face?"
Oh yes, my day will come...and I will tell you about it when it does.
